In a June 21, 2008 Class A game, Brooklyn Cyclones switch-hitter Ralph Henriquez and Staten Island Yankees ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte got into an epic standoff. Both kept switching sides until umpires ruled the batter must declare first. Henriquez chose to bat right-handed, leading Venditte to pitch righty—ending in a strikeout. The bizarre duel prompted a new rule clarifying how switch hitters and switch pitchers face off.
