On August 5, 1992, Jose Canseco proved patience can be just as historic as power. In a 4-3 loss to the A’s, Canseco reached a milestone without swinging — tying the MLB record with seven consecutive walks, dating back to the previous game. The feat put him alongside Billy Rogell, Mel Ott, and Eddie Stanky in the record books. After the game, Canseco joked, “Wait until I call my brother and tell him. He won’t believe it. Sometimes I go a month and a half without one, and here I get seven in a row.” For a slugger known for longballs, this streak was all about patience at the plate.
