On June 19, 1927, the Reds and Phillies split a doubleheader in Cincinnati, but the day belonged entirely to Phillies veteran Jack Scott. The 35-year-old right-hander started and completed both games, earning a 3-1 win in the opener before absorbing a 3-0 shut out by the Reds in the nightcap. Across 18 innings, Scott scattered 15 hits and walked just two. Nearly a century later, no pitcher has started and finished both ends of a doubleheader.
