In the span of six days in 1948, White Sox outfielder Pat Seerey etched his name in two very different record books. On July 18, Seerey powered four homers in one game of a doubleheader vs. the Athletics—becoming just the fifth player ever to do so. But less than a week later, the magic vanished: Seerey struck out seven times across both games of a July 24 doubleheader against the Yankees. It was a dramatic fall from slugging glory to swing-and-miss history.
