Willard Hunter won just four games in his entire major league career, but on August 23, 1964, he earned two of them in the span of a single doubleheader. Used out of the bullpen in both games, Hunter protected tie scores with brief scoreless appearances. Each time, the Mets walked it off in the bottom of the inning, making Hunter the unlikely winning pitcher twice in one day—and accounting for 50 percent of his career victories.
