In 1976, with prior year attendance of only 504,000, new Braves owner Ted Turner went full showman to fill seats, offering honeymooners dugout tickets, champagne, and a hotel suite if they spent their wedding night at the ballpark. The success of the stunt inspired "Wedlock and Headlocks" night, where ten couples would walking through a tunnel of bats held high by Braves and Mets players and tie the knot on the field (it became nine when one forgot their license!).
