Phillies catcher Tim McCarver stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in a July 4th, 1976 game against the Pirates with a chance to make some noise. Driving a pitch deep to right field, both he and runner Garry Maddox watched it clear the right field wall… and that’s when a baserunning blunder turned a grand slam into a 3-run single.
