On June 25, 1989, the Mets edged into first place with a 5-1 victory over the Phillies, but they did it in a way almost never seen before. The team became just the second in MLB history to complete an entire game without recording a single assist. Thirteen strikeouts, twelve fly balls, and two groundouts to first accounted for all 27 outs. The only other time it happened? The Indians against the Yankees on July 1945.
