When Cubs pitcher Bill Bonham took to the mound on August 5, 1975 against the Phillies, he felt good warming up and had his “stuff.” Manager Jim Marshall thought so to. But seven batters into the first inning, the Phillies had seven hits and seven runs. It all happened so fast, the Cubs had a difficult time getting Ken Crosby warmed up to relieve the beleaguered Bonham. By the end of the inning, 16 Phillies had batted with 13 reaching base, and jumped to a 10-0 lead on their way to a 13-5 win.
