Forty years later, Los Angeles Dodgers President Peter O’Malley announced that the 1955 Championship banner will be returned to Brooklyn, where it was originally earned with a stunning Game 7 World Series win over the Yankees. Many in the borough celebrated the long-awaited move, having pushed for years to see the banner come home. But while some saw it as a meaningful tribute, others still carried deep resentment over the team’s departure to Los Angeles.
